WELCOME
Every spring, Beta Theta Pi hosts the annual event Hokie Idol. Hokie Idol is a philanthropy based off the popular TV show, American Idol. Hokie Idol allows all Virginia Tech graduate and undergraduate students to participate. There are usually three rounds of auditioning and then a final show. The final show displays the top twelve students (6 males & 6 females) from the first three rounds of auditioning. The finals are performed in front of a live audience in Burruss Hall Auditorium. That night, the Hokie Idol champion is crowned by a panel of three guest judges and the audience.
AUDITIONS
There are three separate auditions you have to make it through before you are able to compete on stage at the final show. The first audition is open to any Virginia Tech graduate or undergradutate student. There is a one-time entrance fee of $5 in order to tryout. If you are selected you will be called back for a second audition, and then finally a third audtion. If you make it through all three auditions you are well on your way to being crowned Hokie Idol champion! Just one final round to make your way through left.
FINALS
The finals take place at Burruss Hall auditorium on the Virginia Tech campus. Twelve finalists perform in front of a live audience and three guest judges. Among the finalists will be 6 male and 6 female performers. In the past the judges have included a DJ from the Hot 100, the editor of the CollegiateTimes, and director of the New River Valley Free Clinic. The winner of Hokie Idol will be determined by the judges, as well as the audience.
GET TICKETS
There are three ways you will be able to purchase tickets in order to attend the final event. You can either go to the ticket window at Squires, purchase them online, or buy them at the door. We always anticipate a packed crowd, so if you are really interested in attending you should try to buy your tickets ahead of time. We look forward to seeing you there!
